Article 1666. Limiting the Suretyship with Time Limit
(1) A surety who has provided a suretyship whose scope is limited to obligations arising, or obligations performance of which falls due, within an agreed time limit may after three years after the suretyship became effective limit its effects by giving notice of at least three months’ to the creditor. The preceding sentence does not apply if the suretyship is restricted to cover specific obligations or obligations arising from specific contracts. The creditor has to inform the debtor immediately on receipt of a notice of limitation of the suretyship by the surety.
(2) By virtue of the notice, the scope of the suretyship is limited according to Article 1644 paragraph (2).
